Fall Wrap Up
IWVSC joined the Golden Valley Soccer League (GVSL) in Bakersfield this year, and is a milestone for this three-year-old club! Our players are now Cal South Sanctioned, which will allow for more tournament play in the Spring and in future seasons. We had three teams participating in the GSVL; our U-10, U-12, and U-14. All three teams experienced both highs and lows in this league competing against strong clubs but demonstrated their tenacity and work ethic throughout. These teams will also participate in the Cal South State Cup at the end of January and beginning of February.
Along with our traveling squads, we also had a U-6, U-8, and U-16 group out practicing throughout the Fall who continue to improve and work toward becoming travel squads themselves.
Outside of practice and games, our players and their families had tremendously successful fundraisers including a car wash in September, a bake sale in October and a spirit wear fundraiser in November. These funds will come back to keep costs low for our players and families, were used to purchase age and size appropriate goals for our U-10 group and will be used to purchase portable benches for all of our traveling teams.
IWVSC also participated in Kerr McGee’s Trunk or Treat and the Christmas Parade to continue to spread the word about our club to the community.
Lastly, we held an end of the season pizza party at John’s Pizza and gave our medals to our U-6 and U-8 practice squads, as well as, awards to our travel squad.
Overall, 2017 was a successful and growing year for IWVSC and we continue to look forward to what 2018 has to offer!
